I heard a song on the radio yesterday that was meant to lift everyone’s spirits and get us thinking about summer. And since the ground that had almost shed all of it’s snowy blanket is now covered up again, I thought maybe if I started dreaming about summer, it would come that much faster. I started making a list in my head of all the things that said summer to me. (And here’s the song, in case you were curious.)
When I think of summer, I think of:
- driving with the car windows down
- cruising around or long trips in the car
- baby calves
- green pastures
- the smell of fresh cut hay
- boat rides
- Mayfest
- grilling out
- ice cold beer
- fireworks
- smores
- camping out
- fireflies
- staying out all night
And before I leave you, I wanted to share another song (by a group I love) that gets my summer-dreaming heart thinking we’re that much closer. I think the video’s pretty fun too.
What makes you think of summer?
When I think of summer time I think of 100 plus degree weather. And bikini clad ladies.
ReplyDeleteBeing on the golf course until 9 PM.
ReplyDeleteTubing down the river, beers on a patio, being incredibly hot and sweaty.
ReplyDeleteKayaking on Lake Austin and trips to Schliterbahn. Cook outs on Sundays. The occasional trips to Lake Travis where I DON'T get in the water.
ReplyDeleteThe smell of freshly cut grass and the haze of the heat :)
ReplyDeleteDrinking beers by the lake.
ReplyDeleteBBQ's. Beer. Road trips with windows down, music up, and singing loudly. Hanging poolside at our summer home. Kids in sprinklers. Um...hummingbirds for some reason.
ReplyDeletegrilling steaks, drinking ice cold beer from a frosted mug, and seeing all my flowers bloom. Oh--and getting up to run at 6AM when it's light outside!
ReplyDeleteFireworks. :)
ReplyDeletePicniks at the pond.
Skipping rocks into the ocean.
Walking to the end of the road for ice cream.
And... TWO PINA COLADAS -Garth Brooks

ReplyDeleteIce. Cream. Truck. (Can you hear it?)
ReplyDeleteLOL, OT. I can see why that would say summer!
ReplyDeleteGeorge, a golfer, huh? I've never tried it (aside from mini-golf!)
Hero, I've always wanted to go tubing, but haven't done it yet. Better add it to my list!
Chanel, I haven't heard of Schliterbahn. You'll have to share a story sometime.
Alice X, fresh cut grass is a good one! That should go on my list too.
g.r. bigsby, that sounds like Heaven!
Jewels, I love all of those things too. Even hummingbirds. My parents have like four hummingbird feeders at their house.
ms caboo, those things all sound wonderful. (I might have to skip the running thing though.) :)
Julianna, those are wonderful things that all say summer to me. Although I've only been to the ocean once in my life.
Onion, don't laugh, but my hometown wasn't big enough to have an ice cream truck. I stayed at my sister's apartment for a week one summer when I was maybe 15 and heard one outside. Just to hear the music made my eyes grow huge!
ooh, Summer mood :) mm thanks for putting me in this state of mind. I read all the comments and it seems the sun actually peeked out from behind the clouds in grey and misty Poland... :D Thanks for the post!
ReplyDeleteBz, thanks for reading! I'm glad you enjoyed it and that you got a peek of the sun!
